So I’ve noticed how popular Tom Ford beauty has been this past year and I never tried any of their products until their new Summer 2014 collection has FINALLY hit Australian shores last week 🙂
Their products are slightly more expensive than other luxury houses such as Chanel, Dior, YSL and Giorgio Armani! But after trying some of their products I can say that it’s ok to fork out a few more dollars because of the amazing quality Tom Ford has to offer 🙂
Their entire Summer 2014 collection is limited edition!! So all of these have been selling like hot cakes haha 🙂 I purchased these from their TF counter in David Jones, Sydney city!
The collection contains a wider range of colours but I only decided to get one of each as I couldn’t get myself to spend any more money on extras haha I have chosen their Lip Color Sheer in shade 05 “Sweet Spot” and Nail Lacquer in 03 “Coral Beach” 🙂
The products are housed in a luxurious mirrored gold, quilted style pattern cover 🙂 This is because the Summer collection theme is gold and white! While the original products are housed in their classic dark brown covers and the products are in a dark brown and gold theme.
This sheer lipstick cost $68AUD which like I said before is more expensive than other luxury lipsticks! Especially for a sheer type as well! The lipstick only contains 3g of product which means you don’t get much for the amount you pay for considering average luxury brands offer 4g of product or more and costing an average of $50!
The lipstick lives in a slim, rectangular bullet with the white and gold theme! This screams out luxury 😛 I can feel that the plastic is of high quality and it feels sturdy too.
The lipstick and the top of the lid has been stamped with TF initials and the lid clicks securely in place 🙂 This lipstick contains Vitamins C, E and Shea butter to help moisturise and smooth the lips 🙂 hooray for that!
The colour Sweet Spot is a beautiful coral peach!! The colour pay off is great for a sheer lipstick! It isn’t too sheer nor too opaque. If you use a similar colour lip liner underneath it will look opaque and last longer 🙂
You can see how much lighting can affect the tone of a colour!! Above has been taken indoors and I have worn the lipstick on my bare lips without lip liner so you can see the colour pay off on natural lips. As for my nails, I have 2 coats of the nail lacquer on 🙂
Above is taken near a window, and this is the accurate picture of the colour! 🙂 The lipstick truly feels luxurious on the lips! I see why a lot of ladies have fallen in love with TF lippies hehe!! It applies smoothly, it’s hydrating, the finish is glossy and the lasting power is fantastic for a sheer lipstick! I just love this colour so much, it suits my yellow skin tone with blue undertones because it warms up my complexion! And you can definitely pair this lipstick with a wider range of makeup looks hehe
Next up is the Nail Lacquer!! 🙂 I was hesitant at first to spend $45AUD on a nail polish, but since I am a sucker for packaging and limited edition products, it won over me 🙂 Since you get 12ml of product, it’s not bad for the price! On average most luxury nail polishes cost around $40 and you get around 10ml of polish!
The packaging feels slightly heavy and solid so that’s a plus 🙂 the body is made of glass and the cap is made of a sturdy plastic stamped with the TF initials on the lid!
The nail polish is opened in the classic way, you just twist the cap and voila! The scent of the nail polish isnt as strong as regular ones and the brush helps to even out the polish on your nails as well as providing an easy application. It dries quickly too which is perfect but you’ll want to work quickly 🙂 The nail polish itself isn’t too runny or thick, so it’s just right!
The finish of the polish is glossy and I have worn this colour for 10 days now and I am very impressed it hasn’t chipped like other brands 😀 I have buffed my nails, then a layer of base coat from OPI, then the first layer of this nail lacquer looked quite patchy and uneven so I let it dry then the second layer was better and more opaque 🙂 Then I finished off with OPI top coat.
So, my verdict for my first impression of the Tom Ford lipstick and nail polish is a positive experience 🙂 My next TF wishlist is their famous eyeshadow quad and I would love to purchase an opaque lipstick from their regular collection 🙂 If you haven’t seen this Summer collection yet, go into your Tom Ford counter ASAP hehe!!
