PINK SALT – DOUBLE BAY

I’ve never been to Double Bay before, since it’s quite far from where I live. But I was glad I got to visit this place a week ago πŸ™‚ I was hoping for a warm and sunny day, and boy did we get it! It was a fantastic day where we found a lovely restaurant and got to shop around then finished the day sitting by the small beach πŸ™‚ Whenever I come to a new suburb, I like to research for cafes or restaurants to eat at! I was so glad I found Pink Salt on Instagram because they served such amazing and picture worthy food πŸ˜›

We were greeted by a lovely waiter, it was around 11am and it was quiet so I was happy we got a seat quickly πŸ™‚ We were all hungry so we couldn’t wait to get into the food! We all ordered a main and drink each, then shared an entree and followed by an ice cream each for dessert hehe.

The menu was simple and one sided! πŸ™‚ This made choosing our meals quite easily, although choosing a dessert was hard because they all appealed to me πŸ˜›

Firstly, we ordered our beverages. My 2 friends love pineapple juice, and as for myself I wanted something different so I went for Guava πŸ™‚ I think these fresh fruit juices were $5 each! You can also order table water on the side.

For our entree, we ordered the popcorn chicken! It came topped with fresh chilli and spring onion as well as a side of sriracha aioli which was so creamy and was a great companion to the crispy chicken. It was cooked perfectly, juicy pieces of chicken and the batter was light πŸ™‚

Definitely better than Mc Donald’s Chicken McBites or KFC’s Popcorn chicken πŸ˜› (duh!)

Here comes our main! πŸ™‚ My girlfriend loves her protein! She ordered a Grass fed Sirloin servedΒ with broccolini, crispy onion rings and a dollop of olive parsley butter πŸ™‚

She did enjoy her meat, however, she asked for medium rare and when it got to her it wasn’t as pink and was almost to the “well done” stage. I did get a taste and it was still good, though I didn’t mind too! The onion rings weren’t as crispy though and it was quite soggy. The olive parsley butter was amazing though! It paired well with the beef and gave it extra creaminess and flavour to every bite.

My other friend, loves his pork πŸ˜› So it was no surprised he ordered the Pork Belly dish with salsa verde, “louvi” black-eyed bean ragu and rainbow chard. Love the bright blue plate this had been served on though! πŸ˜›

I also had a bite off this dish and I love how crispy the skin is! I guess being used to eating Chinese style crispy pork belly, it’s very important to me that the skin is super crispy but the meat is still tender and soft. I just love the combination of texture plus the crunch is fun πŸ˜›

Lucky last is me πŸ™‚ I love my carbs so I ordered theΒ Saffron gnocchi with duck ragu, peas and sprinkled with parmesan πŸ™‚ I loved this heart warming dish so much and it definitely was a tummy filler! My friends both had a bite of the gnocchi and they commented how fluffy, soft and delicious it tasted! My friend said how it tastes like he’s eating pillows haha πŸ˜›

Of course we cannot skip dessert!! We saw these lovely ice cream pictures and had to have the same! πŸ™‚ It seems that the restaurant comes up with different flavours each time and that day they were serving a delicious Butter popcorn & salted caramel soft serve πŸ˜› It costs $8 a cone and it’s definitely Insta-worthy!

I need to show you guys a close up shot of that butter popcorn and caramel though!! The soft serve tasted like a faint vanilla flavour but it was the popcorn and salted caramel that gave the rather plain soft serve jam packed sweetness! To me it worked so well together and I simply can’t justify sharing one soft serve with someone else haha.

I also want to show you the interior of this restaurant too! It looks fabulous during the day but I can see how this will look and feel romantic at night with the lights hanging up above your head πŸ™‚ I love the modern and industrial theme of this place, there are a lot of contrast of textures and colours such as havingΒ navy/beige wooden chairs against a concrete wall and adorned with structured lights.

We chose to be seated outside because we wanted to enjoy the natural sunlight but we were also shaded which was safe incase it ever rained πŸ™‚

It’s also the beginning of Spring in Australia now πŸ™‚ You can see the fresh green leaves sprouting from the trees! Spring is one of my favourite seasons because I love seeing trees sprout leaves as well as flowers blooming and butterflies coming out of hiding πŸ˜›

I also loved this little space when we got up to pay for our meals! Love the melted candle inside a copper geometric terrarium πŸ™‚

If you guys ever come by Double Bay, you have to visit this place!! I will definitely come back to try more of their dessert menu πŸ™‚ It’s easier to get to this area if you drive!
