The other day my friend took me to this cafe located near Wynyard station!! 🙂 It was a great day for a catch up and discovering some new places with good food hehe
Overall I was impressed and satisfied with our brunch 🙂 I ordered their Bresaola with a single origin coffee, and he ordered Jamie’s Rice with a mixed fruit juice 🙂
Here’s a snippet of the menu and the prices are average and it’s fine for the quality of food served there! When we got there around lunchtime 12:30pm, it was pretty busy and packed! We were lucky to find a seat quickly 🙂 It’s a pretty small cafe so it’s very cozy and they also have a little bookshelf where you can grab to read with your lunch 🙂
My jaw dropped to the floor when my food came out!! The presentation is beautiful 🙂 It didn’t take long for it to arrive which is a plus haha I definitely tasted this with my eyes before the food reached my mouth 😛
This is the Bresaola & crumbed eggs! It contains thinly sliced wagyu bresaola, poached pear, balsamic kale, goat curd, almond crumble & parmesan cheese finished off with their special recipe crumbed poached eggs on an organic sour dough (my fav type of bread!) On top of the sour dough were slices of poached pear, then topped with the wagyu, crumbed eggs and some leafy greens and parmesan cheese!!
I was really impressed with their crumbed poached eggs especially! They yolk inside is runny and the egg white is soft and fluffy while the outside was crumbed and fried to perfection 🙂 The crispy kale gave this a great crunch and the poached pear was also cooked to my liking, it wasn’t too soft and soggy or too firm, it was JUST right!
I washed down my lunch with a single origin latte which was my first time trying, I don’t know much about coffee, but this tasted great with a strong flavour. The coffee art is cute 🙂
As for my dear friend, he ordered a mixed fruit juice, which he enjoyed 🙂 I can’t remember which fruit combination her ordered, but all I remember was that it contains ginger because he was telling me how he wanted a juice with ginger in it that morning haha
For his choice, he ordered Jamie’s Rice, which is a layered & buttered steamed rice, spicy kimchi, thinly sliced grilled soy beef and a soft fried egg finished with dry shredded seaweed and bonito flakes.
This was an interesting and tasty dish! You can see the Korean and Japanese influence on this with the kimchi, seaweed and bonito flakes 🙂 You have the bottom layer of rice, topped with kimchi, then another layer of rice, then the grilled soy beef and topped with the soft egg and garnishing 🙂
The egg was also cooked to perfection 🙂 I just love runny yolks and soft egg whites!!!! It just gives the dish a whole new level of texture and taste haha
After our lunch we decided to walk it off by strolling around The Rocks 🙂 I definitely recommend this cafe for your morning coffee run or if you want to go for lunch!
