I always admired Alex Box’s work, she is the Creative Director for Illamasqua! If you haven’t seen her work, google her now! 🙂 Illamasqua is described as makeup for your alter ego 🙂 You can find crazy but also natural shades in their colour collection! You only get Illamasqua products at the counter inside Myer Sydney City! But you can also purchase them online from a reputable site or their main site!
Since I only owned 2 Illamasqua nail polishes, I picked up 2 lip products and another 2 nail polishes to add to my small collection 🙂
The packaging of Illamasqua products is simple! All products are encased in a black and cream cardboard and some has a cut out window so you can see the colour of the product inside!
With the cosmetic itself, it’s housed in a sleek black plastic casing with the branding stamped. Very simple!
It’s my first time trying their lipstick! I love collecting bold colours that I don’t have in my kit so I have chosen the shade “ESP” 🙂 This is a pigmented, matt finish lipstick!
It’s got 4g of product which is a regular sized lippie 🙂 The lid clicks securely in place so it doesn’t easily fall out to reveal the lipstick. This has a scent very similar to MAC and Limecrime lippies!
I’m wearing the lipstick without lip liner underneath so you can see the true colour! 🙂 I have used 2 swipes because 1 swipe reveals more of a semi sheer coverage. I like that you can build up the colour. I can imagine this would look amazing on top of a dark purple or black lip liner hehe
A different kind of lighting! It’s a cool, violet purple with blue undertones and it has a creamy, smooth texture. It has a blue sheen/shimmer in certain angles which I love! It didn’t dry my lips but kept it comfortable all day which is good! After a few hours of wear it stained my lip so it’s long lasting.
Next up I picked up the Intense Lipgloss in “Shoot” 🙂 Such a crazy, bold and bright leaf green shade. I am so surprised and impressed with this product!!
With 7ml of product, again it’s a regular sized lipgloss! It has intense coverage of a lipstick but also intense shine of a gloss. Best of both worlds hehe 😉 I would call this a liquid lipstick! It doesn’t have that sticky feeling and it has a unique fruity scent! It’s quite light so that’s okay! The brush size is perfect, not too big or small and it dispenses the right amount of product you need! Just like the lipstick, the longer you wear it, it will stain your lips hehe.
Sorry for the poor quality pic it was taken with my phone haha. I will post up a proper picture when I figure out a look to wear with this lip gloss. But I wanted to show you how amazing this lip gloss is! I have tried a few “Intense/pigmented” lip glosses from different brands, but I love this one so much! The reason why is because the colour pay off is so intense! These are all worn with out a lip liner and all I used was one swipe! 😀 This type of green is more cool with a blue undertone and as you can see it doesn’t sit into the lip line! Staying power is fine and longer lasting than a regular lip gloss hehe
These are swatches from the 2 products! The lipgloss has one swipe and the lipstick has 2! I am impressed with these 2 products and I really want to grab more bold colours in the Intense Lipgloss range!! If you have a look on their website they have crazy and natural colours to choose from 🙂 You can have a better view of the lipstick, it’s duo chrome which is so cool 🙂
Moving on to the nails 🙂 I haven’t posted the first 2 nail polishes I bought from Illamasqua so I’ll do that in a seperate post hehe. I have chosen new colours in Hemlock and Facet!
Here are the swatches of the 2 nail shades 🙂 I have shown how it looks with 1 and 2 coats! I have worn Illamasqua polishes before so I know how they wear 🙂 It lasts very well and doesn’t chip until 5 days later. I guess it also depends how you take care of it and the base/top coats you use! These swatches don’t have a top coat so you can see that the polish alone is super shiny!!
“Facet” is really pretty! It’s a cool tone medium brown with micro gold flakes! These are more fun than a plain shade of colour and it’s so pretty to look at in different lighting!
I fell in love with “Hemlock” first hehe 🙂 It reminded me of a mermaid!! The reason why is because it’s duo chrome with green shimmer in certain angles! It’s a slightly sheer polish though so you can layer this on top of different colour combinations and create different looks!
Here’s another look of the polishes in natural sunlight 🙂 You can see what I mean by “Hemlock” being duo chrome!!
Another close up 🙂 By the way, these nail polishes have 15ml of product so that’s a good ol regular size!
That’s it for my Illamasqua post 🙂 I really like this brand a lot and there are a few items I’d like to try out such as their Matte/Hydra Veil primer, blushes and eye shadows! The makeup artists who work at the Sydney counter are really friendly and their make up is always on point so make sure you visit them if you have never tried their products!
