Death by Chocolate

So today my dear friend took me out for brunch at a lovely cafe at the Bonnyrigg Garden Centre, Harvest @ BGC. I was blown away by the beautiful garden dΓ©cor that this cafe was surrounded by! It gave me similar vibes to The Grounds in Alexandria πŸ™‚

One thing that caught my eyes – and my heart was the magnificent glass house that you could rent out if you wished to host an event! Or you could purchase it for $45k if you want it in your home πŸ˜‰

You could purchase almost everything laid out in the Garden Centre, from pot plants, to garden gnomes and statues! I walked out with a food baby and inspired with ideas for my future home!

Ok enough, let’s get straight to the food. Ordered Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon laid on top of a bed of blanched spinach, toasted English muffin and squashed by a poached egg drizzled with hollandaise sauce. Loooove my yolk really runny and it was purfect. Washed it down with an Iced Mocha served in a mason jar which the new owner of the cafe asked for my opinion because this was their first order and first time they served it in. Seems like the new trend these days is putting EVERYTHING in mason jars! but I’m not complaining πŸ™‚

My girlfriend is a beautiful bride-to-be and her plans of eating clean today was of course destroyed by evil little me, because if you are eating with me – there is NO such thing as “diet” in my dictionary hehee. She went for a warm chicken salad, mainly dominated by rocket, sprinklings of feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, with a poached egg and sauuuuuuce to dress it. She played it safe with water haha!

Of course after our meal dessert is to be expected. By then we had a beautiful food baby but women will always have room for dessert – a soft spot in our hearts & tummy πŸ™‚ We decided to share the “Mortal Sin” so they called. A sin we gladly to submit to and boy it was worth it. A decadent and rich cheesecake with chocolate served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was perfect, not overly sweet but sweet enough to give you a sugar hit.

We walked out very satisfied and I definitely recommend this place for a food date for anyone who loves a great location and good food. The price is reasonable and the staff were amazing and attentive and I hope their business continues to keep growing!
