CHANEL HYDRA BEAUTY MICRO SERUM + NEW LIPSTICKS

Hi guys! It’s been a while, I’m way behind schedule for my posts. I have so much products to show you that I have purchased over these months!! What better way than to start with Chanel ๐Ÿ™‚

I have bought their 2014 Christmas limited edition Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick, their new Rouge Coco lipstick with their updated formula as well as the new Hydra Beauty Micro serum! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m sure most of you are familiar with Chanel packaging! All makeup products are housed in a classic black and gold packaging (unless it’s Les Beiges) and skincare is in a white packaging (unless it’s Le Lift or Sublimage)

Let’s start with the new Micro serum! I have finished the original HB serum which I have talked about in my previous post here:ย http://www.joeydevivre.com/cc-certifiedย ๐Ÿ™‚ It took me around 3-4 months to finish a standard 30ml serum! I only use this at night, every day of the week. This new Micro serum costs $132 while the original costs $124 so not much of a difference. The Hydra Beauty skincare range is a perfect entry to skincare if you are just starting out! Everyone needs hydrated skin, even if you are combination, normal or oily skin. Especially when you wear makeup, if your skin is dry it won’t look smooth when you apply makeup on top and it won’t last long either.

This skincare range focuses on improving your skin’s hydration, radiance as well as protecting your skin from outside damage too. Hydra Beauty also contains 2 common ingredients which is the Blue Ginger (very refreshing feeling and smell!) and Camellia oil. These 2 serums are have an oil ingredientย but they don’t feel heavy or oily on the skin at all!

The back of the packaging ๐Ÿ™‚ I love Chanel packaging so much even the box that houses the item! A sleek, shiny, sturdy box with listing of the item and info.

One thing about the design of any Chanel skincare serum (HB, Le Lift, Sublimage, Le Blanc) is that it’s perfectly engineered! They are all made of a sturdy plastic, seal tight cap that can easily be taken on and off and doesn’t come off easily! The design is sleek, smooth, easy to hold in your palm. And with the new Micro serum, you can see exactly how much product you got left before you replenish a new bottle!

To help you better understand why I say so, look at the bottom on the bottle. See that clear part under the CHANEL logo? That part rises up little by little every time you make a pump which means you will use every. Single. Last. Drop of serum!!!!!!!!! I’m sure you guys have had problems with other brands where the serum is in a bottle with a pipette or a pump that doesn’t give you all the product. And it ends up being wasted on the bottom because the pipette doesn’t reach the bottom. It happened to me with some past serums I have used (drug store or high end branded!) So that is why Chanel designs always win in my books! They think of everything when they produce a product from the ingredient down to the packaging ๐Ÿ™‚ I now try to avoid products that contain a pipette because it’s too fiddly and annoying.

One thing I must point out is that the entire Hydra Beauty range smells SO amazing!! It has a fresh scent which is pleasant to use if you don’t mind a little fragrance in your skincare. With this new Micro serum, it contains a new technology, Microfluidics which naturally preserve the active ingredients inside until the moment you pump it onto your skin. So this is the only skincare product from CHANEL that is paraben free! ๐Ÿ™‚ This is why you can notice all these little bubbles inside, it contains the extract of the Camellia oil so it’s super beneficial! Alsoย when you pump it out it’s fluid and watery. The texture is so different to the original serum! They also have a patent on this technology for 4 years before other brands can use this method!

Here you can see how all CHANEL skincare serum’s are designed. I love hearing the cap snap on securely haha! Another beautiful thing about this design is that with ONE pump, it’s perfectly measured the amount you need for your whole face! You won’t have to guess anymore with how much product to dispense ๐Ÿ™‚

Thought I’d throw in a side by side comparison of these 2 serums ๐Ÿ™‚ Exact same design, just different in a few ways! The micro serum bottle is clear so you can see the bubbles as well as how much product you got left.

The back of the new serum is plain too.

It’s more obvious on the new serum that you can see how it’s designed when you have used some productย and see the pump going higher and higher.

The micro serum on the left and the original serum on my right! The texture of the micro serum is more watery, clear, slippery, fluid, light! The original is more gel-like, cloudy in colour but doesn’t feel as watery as the micro serum. Both of these serums will remain a staple because they cater for 2 different skin types! The new micro serum is perfect for someone who wants a more intense hydration if they feel the original isn’t hydrating enough. It also provides 12hr continuous action so if you use it day and night your skin will stay hydrated for longer! The original can be perfect for oily-normal skin type while I definitely recommend the micro serum for normal-dry skin ๐Ÿ™‚ Both of these absorb into the skin quickly. After finishing the original serum, I definitely love it for every day, however being a normal-oily skin type, I would only use the micro serum during winter or if my skin feels dehydrated ๐Ÿ™‚

After finishing the original serum, I have noticed my skin staying hydrated but since my skin is normal-oily, I don’t feel it made me more oily during the day which is a big plus!! I just started using the micro serum because it’s heading to Autumn/Winter in Sydney now so it’s perfect timing. So far it hasn’t broke me out which is a good sign! I would only use this during the night because I don’t want to use it twice a day in case it gets too overwhelming for my skin.

Now moving on to beauty ๐Ÿ™‚ These are my first Rouge Coco and Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks! The first Chanel lipstick I bought is the Rouge Coco Shine which is a sheer lipstick. But these 2 are opaque and offer better colour payoff! During the 2014 Christmas collection, I had to get my hands on this limited edition colour, “337 La Flamboyante”! I love all Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks because even though it gives a matte finish, its not drying at all unlike some matte lipsticks! ๐Ÿ™‚

Just like the title, it does have a velvety texture which feels so comfy to wear. It lasts really long too! Especially when you put a lip liner underneath. As for the Rouge Coco, I chosen the shade “440 Arthur” this is the new formula that was released recently along with all new shades! This new formula contains sunflower oil, jojoba oil and camellia oil so it’s super hydrating compared to the previous formula which was more creamy but didn’t feel as smooth and buttery as this new formula! This also gives a shiny finish so you don’t even need to put lip gloss on top unless you wanted an extra glossy look.

The top of the lipstick packaging shows the number and colour. I have chosen the shade “440 Arthur” for RC which is the same lip colour Kiera Knightley is wearing in the campaign posters. This colour was inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s one true love, Boy Capel as his name is Arthur. The red shades in this range are named after the 4 loves in Gabrielle Chanel’s life.

On the left is the iconic Rouge Coco packaging and the right is the Rouge Allure/Rouge Allure Velvet packaging which you press the top and the lipstick bullet pushes up which is so cool because no other brand has this packaging ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_2099

The side by side comparison of these two lipsticks ๐Ÿ™‚ They both contain 3.5g of product which is standard and at a cost of $52 each.

IMG_2112

Swatch time!! ๐Ÿ™‚ You can see the glossy finish of Rouge Coco on the left and the matte finish of Rouge Allure velvet on the right. Both reds are stunning! “Arthur” is a red with more hints of orange so it looks vibrant on the lips while RAV “La Flamboyante” is your classic perfect red! These two will suit any skin tone and brighten your complexion.

I just love the textures of all 3 products! I highly recommend you try these out and see for yourself ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait till the Summer 2015 collection comes out!! There’s so many stuff I wanna try out!
